I suppose this sticks out amongst other mentoring books because it is one of the "one minute" series, but also the book is told in a allegorical style ; with tips through the story and then at the end.I'll be honest, it is not my favourite style. And I didn't feel like I really walked away from reading this with any new information. (Disclaimer I have run mentoring programs and been a mentor a number of times). The book explains the 4 types of mentoring. The story between Josh and Diane was cross-generational mentoring, where both benefited in this mentoring process. The story is nice and brings some insights on how to look for a mentor or mentee, and how it is beneficial for our learning and growth. It also explains the stages and process of mentoring. If you are looking for a mentor or mentee than you may want to grab this book. Its short and quick read.

I like the narrative story that frames the lessons being taught. Overall mostly obvious -both people win-both mentor and mentee - but a few tips like if mentee screws up, coming clean with mentor early and mutual respect can be maintained. Also, the importance of finding a mentor that works best with each person's personality is helpful but not always practical when assigning.

This book was given to me when I got into a role of team lead for the first time. There were some key take aways from this which I use with my team and they have proved to be beneficial. Good for someone who is first time into a lead/mentor role.

Not bad, however I'm not the biggest fan of the allegorical style. A pretty good starting point on the subject.
