Darkest Days is book four in The Last Orphans series by N.W. Harris. Wow, just wow! This is the final book of this series so if you haven’t started it yet, now is the time. I have been hooked from the beginning. I was worried going in to this one that I would have trouble picking up the story line but everything fell into place quickly. I think this bunch of characters is ingrained into my brain. I couldn’t forget them if I wanted to.Shane, as always, is hanging on by a thread trying to be t [...]

Their youth was stolen, their families gone, but the determination to survive drives children everywhere to fight back against the aliens who have murdered, plundered and enslaved them. Have these monsters gone unnoticed in the cosmos, left to wreak havoc and destroy Earth? Could one of their own worst nightmares followed them only to use both the Anunnaki and the humans as puppets in a twisted game of war where death may be the only victor? What cosmic god has given these mysterious aliens the [...]

Darkest Days is a sizzling continuation of this pulse-pounding journey that stretches our imagination and our comfort zone to its breaking point and beyond. While this adventure pulls at every part of our soul, it also allows the incredible beauty and impressive strength of humanity to flawlessly shine and dazzle at every turn. This is what brings me back. I am not a big fan of alien invasion stories, but I am a huge fan of seeing the pure and good core of the human race highlighted in a way tha [...]

Like the first three books in this series, this book is a great read, though not one for those with weak stomaches. If you can handle a few scenes with gory descriptions in them, however, then you will be able to see that it's a well-written book, with an interesting plot that moves at a nice pace, believable characters with relationships that grow and evolve as the series progresses, and wonderfully detailed descriptions. The story is one that will grab and hold your attention from start to fin [...]

Having read the previous three installments of this series, I'd wondered if the final book could maintain and do justice to the momentum and suspense that had been so keenly created and fostered. I'm happy to say that this book more than lived up to my high expectations. As with the previous books, there is a great deal of violence and death, so readers who are sensitive to such things should keep that in mind. What I appreciate about that, though, is that this isn't like other series where the [...]

Young Adult Sci-fiGeorgiaThough they killed the adults and enslaved the children the ancient slave mongers have angered a more advanced species of aliens. A Simple ReviewYou'll get no spoilers from me. If you look for my review of books 1-3, you won't find one. This is purposeful. I read these four books as if they were a single, old fashioned novel written by the likes of Baen, Rowling, Martin, and Jordon. Why? Because the word count in these four mini-novels is similar. The total cost of these mini-novels is comparably to a hard back, paper bound First Edition. This series started quickly and the pace never slowed. Should you have lived this boo [...]

Darkest days is the fourth and final book in the last orphans series. N.W. Harris wrapped up every last detail while bringing the same excitement and fast paced action as the rest of the series. I couldn’t put it down all the way until the last page. This is a series that must be read in order to enjoy it. If you enjoyed the other last orphans book then you will defiantly won’t want to miss this epic conclusion to find out who will win earth. I loved the amount of action and suspense all the [...]

Strong finish to this series more or less. I appreciated that the Shane/Kelly stuff was not quite as annoying as in the previous books (but still a little annoying TBH). I kinda guessed what was happening at the end before it happened with Greenie's intentions etc, but it still read as pretty horrifying and gruesome for a YA type story (is this YA? I assume so). Overall a fairly solid dystopian series considering this genre is a dime a dozen these days.

Great ending to a good series. After finishing The Last Orphans, I had to read the other three books in the series until I finished, I could hardly put the books down.
