Wow! I've read so many psychological thrillers this year. Some amazing, some not quite hitting the mark. Therefore, picking up another in this genre, it has to be really special. This book is certainly something special. Blew me away in leaps and bounds! The writing style is easy to follow and moving from one era to another, it keeps you extremely intrigued and quite impossible to put down. If I dare say, it has an essence of, Into the Darkest Corner, by Elizabeth Haynes, one of my all-time favou [...]

It's so refreshing to have an author not shy away from sensitive and emotional issues/topics. And to have one do it so well is mind-blowing. I fell heads over heels for this book after just a couple pages. The characters are so well developed they felt real. And the writing is near flawless. And if you think you know what happens next Trust me, you don't. No fluff here. Just a well-orchestrated thriller that will leave you wanting more. And more. And more. Seriously, give me more.Full review at [...]

"Anything For Him" is a brilliant dark and twisted psychological thriller from author LK Chapman. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish having such an impact on me I couldn't stop thinking about it long after I'd finished it. The storyline had the right amount of emotion and sympathy and was handled with sensitivity which just made the whole story mind blowing! It was scary, unsettling and at times frustrating. With there only being a few characters in the book you soon form an affinity w [...]

I received this book for free from the author through LibraryThing's "member giveaway" program in exchange for my honest review. It's easy to pass over a review like this where the reviewer has received a copy of the book for free thinking they can't possibly be unbiased. While it may be true that I went into it hoping to like it, I can honestly say that I would not have been disappointed had I spent the $4 it currently costs to buy the kindle version. While there are parts of Anything for Him th [...]

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. This is a disturbing but gripping thriller. This book revolves around 2 friends - Jay & Mark. The book is told in an 11 years before, 11 years after sort of way. 11 years before follows Jay, Mark and Sammie. Jay & Mark were the best of friends until newcomer Sammie came to town.11 years later follows Jay, Mark and Felicity. Jay although an abuser is also a victim.I felt I really connected more with Sammie (having been through s [...]

Anything for Him had a real impact on me. The characters are so real that I found myself thinking about them even when I wasn't reading the book. I felt genuine fear, excitement, hope and sadness for them as I read chapter after chapter of this rollercoaster of a story. Not many books stick with me for as long as this one has - If you want an exciting book that also makes you feel something, then you won't be disappointed, but be warned - once you enter Jay's world you won't be able to leave, eve [...]

Anything for him by l k Chapman is a chilling psychological thriller read. There has always been someone else in the background; someone they really shouldn't turn to for helpThis was a good read. Very dark and disturbing. I didn’t like Jay at all. I wanted to do more than slap him. Highly recommended. 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from tbc on fb.

Would you do anything for the person you loved? How far would you be willing to go to make them trust you? Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. It starts as a innocent infatuation of a girl by a boy in school. They seem to really like each other. Sammie and Jay are typical teenagers who suddenly find themselves entangled in a very unhealthy relationship. The author has masterfully written a story so terrifying and graphic that I gasped out loud at some of the violence . It [...]

*I received a free copy of this book for an honest review*Now that ending was mean, talk about a cliff-bloody hanger. What can I say about this book. It was a fantastic dark twisted read where no character could be taken at face value. Felicity lives with Jake, they are flatmates and “lovers’, their relationship is unconventional and unhealthy, they hurt themselves and others in their sick and twisted games. Jay her flatmate is a major asshole and I fail to see why she puts up with him. I fe [...]

When I received this book from I had no idea what to expect. It didn't take long for me to get hooked. Just a few lead characters bring this story to life and hold the reader until the very end. The narrative is told mostly through two voices, separated by eleven years but inexorably entwined. The two voices are easily differentiated as Felicity is speaking in the present, while Sammie's sections are written as a back story. The two are linked by Jay. Here is a man with problems but it is diffi [...]

This is a hard one to review , talk about messing with the readers brain!I am sitting here lost for words, but have to say something, so here goes, I found it difficult to keep turning the pages as I just felt such anger towards Mark and Jay ,the story is told, in past and present, skipping from their childhood and the events that impact on their behaviour as grown men.The writing style is so believeable I felt I was on the sidelines watching. This is about manipulation to a shocking degree, a pe [...]

I recieved this book from library thing in exchange for an honest review.I quite liked this book. It takes me much longer to read ebooks than paperback books for some reason, but I am glad I made it through this one. This book alternated between Jay and Fliss in the present and Jay and Sammi in the past. Jay wants Fliss to date his old friend Mark and then Jay will come in and sleep with her in order to get back at him for doing the same thing with his old girlfriend Sammi when they were in scho [...]

    * First of I would like to thank the order for sending me this book for review. But what did I actually think of it? Amazing, and so messed up! I found that once I picked this book up I didn't want to put it down. I started reading it at 10:00pm last night and finished it just before 12am. I feel so sorry for the female characters in this book and I completely hate Mark and Jay, they are some of the most horrible characters you will ever meet. This book shows the boys past with one girl Sammie whi [...]

Deceptively dark, disturbing and terrifyingly real. I didn't know what to expect, after reading Worth Pursuing I felt compelled to read Anything For Him. I have been left feeling shaken, being a mother to a pre teen daughter Sammie pulled at my heart strings with an over whelming maternal instinct to protect her.Jay and Mark are complex characters, with an outlook on life that is unique. Felicity, I just want to pull her out of the pages and keep her safe.A brutally honest novel, not for the fai [...]

I will confess: around page 133 I did not want to finish the book. It was so awfully scaring, and I knew it would get worse.I was right, in thinking it would get worse I mean. But I could not stop reading. I had to go reading on and on. Until I finished the book.People who like a frightening story, a story about how people can get psychologically abused and what happens to them: do read this story. People who like psychological thrillers should read this book too. They will not regret it.

Firstly I must thank the author for sending me this book to read and review. It had me hooked from the first page and, even though I found the plot a bit far-fetched at times, I raced through it to the final twist. Gruesome characters in Jay and Mark who I actually found more believable than Felicity (hence the far-fetched comment). Sammie was, for me, the most believable in all her schoolgirl naivety. Tautly written this certainly is a chilling book.

  • Julia

If I could give this book more stars I would. It's a phenomenally shocking and chilling book and incredibly well written, atmospheric and just downright scary. I read it in one sitting and I defy anyone not to do the same. I don't want to say anymore for fear of giving some of the storyline away because it does have some shocking twists so deftly delivered you barely see them coming. Overall an amazing read!

  • Aisha

I finished this book in one sitting. The characters are complex and the plot has many layers. I was gripped throughout and I must say I didn't see *that* coming! Jay is a detestable character but I also found him fascinating. And Felicity on the other hand she was almost likeable to begin with yet my opinion changed a few times throughout! A great book. I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

  • Sharlene Whittington

Reading this book was like an addiction - it shocked and unnerved me and has been the most gruesome psychological thriller I have read but I couldn't put it down! Telling two tales of past and present, explains how the two main male characters are interlinked and the history they share. You think know what's going to happen at the end but do you??? Fantastic story, very well written and thoroughly deserving of five stars even if it has left me a bit disturbed!

  • Geeta

This story was easy to follow even when moving from past to present. We follow 4 main characters.Jay is a very controlling, dark character and we learn more about him as the story unfolds.Mark seems like an innocent bystander and just wants to be Jay's friend.Felicity/Fliss is caught up in Jay's plan and uncovers information about Jay's teenage relationship with Sammie. Where is Sammie?

  • Louise

I was given the opportunity to read this book by the author. I like a wide variety of books, so was happy to give it a go! Wow! I found the book easy to get into and followed the characters easily when they changed the first person narrative. I certainly never saw the twist coming. Definitely worth a read if you like a suspense novel.

  • Asimah Akhtar

I was asked to review this book in request for my honest review. A very interesting read! This begins as a story about a control freak. However, as the story begins to unfold you realise there is an underlying obsession involved. Anything but predictable!

  • Selina Trafford

Story of obsessive love and its dire consequences. Boy meets girl, tragedy strikes then history repeats or does it? A thrilling read which i would recommend to all. I read in one sitting and am eagerly awaiting the prequel.

  • Lesley Halliday

I was kindly given a copy of this book by the author L.K. Chapman and I devoured it! Absolutely brilliant. Was drawn in from chapter 1. All the way through you're thinking so why is Jay/Mark being like this?? And then you find out why oohsha!! Not at all what I thought. Superb!!

  • Abigail

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and delved into it with ease. A great little thriller which has enough twists to keep you reading. A memorable book which I would recommend . I believe there is a prequel to this story which I will definitely read
