I really liked reading "The Champion's Mind" by Dr. Afremow, but I LOVE "The Champion's Comeback." I learned a lot about excellence and resilience from this entertaining read. Definitely a keeper!

I believe this was supposed to be a motivational book to keep us going. I didn't feel motivated at the end; instead, I just felt the mantras "be positive" and "don't give up" were repeated constantly but in different ways. I liked the idea of sharing athlete stories to help us see how they overcome obstacles; I wish there were fewer of those stories, but the stories themselves were delved into more. I felt like we were on the surface of everything for the majority of the text. Lastly, I'm sure t [...]

I enthusiastically read Dr. Afremow's new book, "The Champion's Comeback." Several chapters alone are worth the price of the book, such as "Cracking the Comeback Code" (Chapter 1), "Mental Game Bounce Backs" (Chapter 4), and "The Champion's Mental Success Academy" (Chapter 7). Overall, a lot of wisdom and practical tips for being the best version of oneself in the face of adversity. Good for excelling in sports, business and life. Get yourself a copy!

I was somewhat disappointed with the quantity of cliches and sports-speak. A large portion of the book seemed rambling, unorganized and the thoughts of people other than the author. I did enjoy the author's application of criteria set out early in the book (7 L's) to certain historical situations in sports comebacks; I wish there would have been more of that type of structure to the book.

  • Kari Mccrory

I find Afremow's suggestions for focus and attitude towards setbacks to be helpful in moving forward in recovery or comebacks not just in sport but in work, academics and other endeavors.

  • Jim

It was just OK. Not very fast moving and dry at times.

  • Edward

I found it really motivational. The stories presented were insightful, and the author took time to mention looking after yourself physically and mentally. It addresses bounce backs after injuries or serious defeats and older athletes getting back in the game.I listened to the audio, so I probably could get more out of a traditional read.
