" I've been reading your book that I purchased, and I feel your conviction. I love the stories of how you overcame foster care, and how the Lord has carried you through your journey in spite of the challenges. It was only to make you stronger to continue and pursue more. You looked so established at your book signing, while being the ray of God's Son in the room among allll those people. It touches my heart to see your victory because Christ was, and has been formed in you! Love you!

To be honest, I should give this book a lower review, but I want to give it a higher review. On the one hand, this is a very touching story about a low income black family in the 1970s. On the other hand, it is told in a dry and unfeeling manner that makes it hard to get into.I feel that the author really has something here, but it's only the outline of the story. This was a book that I won from this site. The story of how a young mother overcame her own troubled childhood is touching. There are so many who have similar situations but never get out. I am always looking for books appropriate for middle school students. This one is more appropriate for older students, but the theme of overcoming adversity is a powerful one that kids need to hear.

Not my favorite. Felt more like a script than a novel. It jumped around a lot without much detail. Since it is only a prequel, would like to read the full version to see if my opinion changes.
