Every now and again, I pick up a book that is a potential game changer in the world of young adult fiction. This title is one of them. When the shelves are consistently lined with titles that feature dull characters and telly prose, Ellanor's story stands out like a bright star among the dross. The essential question this story asks is; what does it mean to live your life fully and creatively? But we aren't TOLD an answer, we watch Elly search and question, and learn along with her. I am reminde [...]

Best book I've read in a long time and one that is now on my list of annual re-reads. The story is just so beautifully written that it's like the author was singing when she wrote it. While there are difficult issues raised, such as racism, the author handles them with a sensitivity that left me feeling positive. K. T. Durham has woven together a plot with many twists and turns and surprises along the way. At times it was hard to put the book down as I followed the adventure of Ellanor the elf when she found herself in the world of humans. And the ending was quite a surprise! K.T.'s writing is very descriptive and the few illustrations in the book, though well-done, are hardly necessary because it's quite easy to picture the characters and scenes without them. I would recommend this book to young people [...]
