Drugi dio knjige Misterij Mrtvog mora istog autora. Napeto, [...]

When I picked up this book, I saw the book as a challenge - try to get through this one before I get to some of the better ones I have to read. I was thoroughly surprised when I started reading though. Riveting story with a few surprises and a surprising lack of predictability towards the end, which in my opinion always makes for a good read. I love the writing style as well - it is easy to read but not so easy that you would think the target audience would be teens. I have not read his first bo [...]

It drew me in from page oneright up until the end. The idea of the Judas people was interesting, and Diema was just brilliant.Rush was a great character too. If there was an apocalypse brewing i'd want Diema to be the one to try and stop it.

It's just as well I don't judge a book by its cover, as reading the back of ''The Demon Code'' was not a good start. For one thing, it's a conspiracy thriller with a title that evokes comparisons with an over-rated bestseller from a few years ago. Then there is the fact that Adam Blake is a pseudonym for another author and, as Stephen King once said of writing as Richard Bachman: "If it was any good, the guy would have put his real name on it. If he lied about his name, the book must suck''Insid [...]

The blurb about the author tells us that 'Adam Blake' is a nom-de-plume for am 'internationally bestselling author' . Well may he (or she) wish to remain anonymous for this really is a very silly book, presumably written to keep his/her pot boiling. I have given it two stars as I managed to finish it and it is quite well written, certainly better so than D*n B***n. While I can swallow the most unlikely scenarios, this is so full of holes as to make the willing suspension of disbelief impossible. [...]

I read the first book in this series some time ago; long enough to feel that The Demon Code works as a sequel or as a standalone novel. This is a stylised action thriller featuring an ex cop, ex mercenary, a security guard and a fanatical religious sect. If you're looking for a real life crime novel I guess you could point out it stretches credibility. That fact suits me. I like tense, tightly driven, entertaining plots but feel no desire to be terrified in my bedtime reading. I prefer a touch o [...]

So I haven't really read a thriller book in a while. I found this in the book store and bought it cause the is all magical and demon and shit. But God! What an awful book. Don't we have Witty Dan Brown for horrible novels on cults, witch crafts, unnecessary information on various religions about which nobody gives a fuck? In book, some cunt have access to the most sophisticated weaponry, and one schismatic group has been acquiring such and shifting it around the world. Oh yeah? Did no government [...]

This was great. A secret civilisation, a mad prophet, a race to prevent a doomsday. Adam Blake has written a fast-paced, hugely entertaining thriller packed with invention, detail, mystery and excitement. The characters are pretty good too! This was a book I sat down and read in a single day. As I got to know the various point of view characters on all sides I was more and more intrigued, involved - and infuriated. Some of these people really rubbed me up the wrong way and it was satisfying to se [...]

After last year's excellent The Dead Sea Deception (forwinternights.wordpress/) I knew I was in safe hands for The Demon Code. It is a sequel and so you are well advised to read The Dead Sea Deception first. Again we are treated to an intelligent thriller with a set of protagonists - good, evil or somewhere in between - who are well worth getting to know and are somewhat different - especially Heather Kennedy. Adam Blake backs up an excellent story with fine writing. My one issue with The Demon [...]

The second in the series (if two is a series, I doubt there will be another since this pretty much finishes the story, plus it probably wasn't as commercially successful as it deserved to be).The writer is actually Mike (MR) Carey, "The Girl with all the Gifts", "Fellside" and the Felix Castor series of urban fantasy novels plus loads of high quality comic book credits, and I think he is just brilliant. On the surface this is a regulation-ish thriller with a hint of Da Vinci Code about it, but re [...]

The adventure of Leo and Heather continues in book two of this much better than expected series. Some time has passed since the events in book one and fate will throw Leo and his assassin daughter together to fight against renegade Elohim who follow an ancient prophecy.Once again the adventure is fast paced and gripping taking in London, Budapest, and New York.It is simply good story telling which makes you want to turn to the next page. The ending sort of wraps up the story but if book3 was to co [...]

If you didn't read the first book you might get a little lost with this one. Heather is at it again fighting the same bad guy that she did three years ago but with different characters. I like the way this book brings everything to a conclusion. It brings an ending to some things that were left hanging in the first book. I also like the way that the main characters, Leo and Heather, aren't infallible. They frequently get their butts kicked

  • Laurence Bradbury

Much better than his first book "The Dead Sea Deception", almost a 4*. The characters this time are beautifully formed, almost to the point that you can visualise them and hear them. The book is a little too wordy for my liking as it detracts from the pace of a pure thriller. It is not necessary to have read book 1 to enjoy this, but it is advisable to fully appreciate the drive of the main characters. My advice is to plod through book 1 and enjoy book 2.

I wish it was made more obvious on a cover on a book if it's second in the series! Luckily the author had explained everything in this book but I felt like I still missed out on quite a few of the references from the first book. Anyway I did enjoy this book. I didn't think I would so it was a nice surprise. I did feel like it was a bit long winded but it was very detailed. Which is great. It really helps you to get into the storyline.

Didn't finish, exactly. Read halfway through, until realised this was the second in a series. Might return after reading first book. Good book, regardless. Characters were difficult, because they have already been introduced in previous book. Apart from characters, from what I read, the story was good! Recommend to fans of suspense/thrillers and mysteries with a supernatural twist.

  • J.F. Penn

Reads as though there are prequels but that doesn't spoil the fun. Fast paced, high body count, secret religious cult who believe they are separate from the rest of the human race emerge to bring on final judgment. Can they be stopped in time? Some good on location scenes in Hungary which I read while I was there.

  • Dani

The back cover is right when it says that this book has a heroine that you won't forget. This is fast paced and unpredictable. A good read. Might read more of Adam Black's books as this was the first of his that I had read.

  • Laura

I feel there was a lot of backstory that would have made this novel a lot more engaging. The fact that it wasn't as engaging as it sounded is more than likely a fault of mine. Nonetheless, it was somewhat entertaining.

  • Elinor

One word AMAZING. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. And while you are reading you will start to fix the pieces together. This book was action packed and people who love adventures and investigations (CSI) will love this book.

  • Stephen

The Sons of Cain and the Serpent show up again and we learn much much more about them. There are actually more than one faction and each has its' own agenda. Once again Heather and Leo are caught in the middle. This was a well written and fun read that I enjoyed very much.
