THE TREE is my first picture book, and picture books take time The sale to Random House Knopf was announced in Publishers Marketplace in December, 2012 Peter McCarty was the artist that Knopf was wanted I was thrilled when he agreed to illustrate the book It took a lot of time for his schedule to clear Patience was rewarded In re my other writing, there s been a fair amount of pseudonymous bestselling fun fiction for teen girls including a NYT bestselling series called THE A LIST , and quite a bit of writing designed to get kids who may not love to read yet into the greatest activity in the world As I see it, that s easily 50% or the kid reading population Home is Los Angeles, California, but I ve lived the itinerant life of the writer There have been stretches in Salt Lake City and Nashville, while my family center of gravity is still in New York City When I m not writing, you ll find me in the gym, on the tennis court, ski slopes, golf course, or knee deep in a river with a fishing rod in my hands I like to learn I read everything If there s something else you want to know, ask away It s pretty easy to find me via Facebook or otherwise. My fantasy epitaph That was a decent first draft.

This kid named Shawn Reynolds dad is deployed to Afghanistan. His dad's favorite sport is pro wrestling. Pro wrestling was having a competition for 4 kid contestants who had the best video they submitted, and Shawn decided to make one for his dad in Afghanistan. He got picked as one of the four contestants and he has to go through all of the challenges. If he wins the competition he is the Pro Wrestling Superfan and gets a full scholarship to college. His mentor is Rey Mysterio and he comes and [...]

I got this as a gift from Phil Vecchio and wasn't expecting much. Most of the book is a pretty standard plot of a kid overcoming the odds to win the WWE Superfan contest, facing off against a couple nice kids and one big bully named Spike. Yep, Spike. Very subtle. Our hero makes it to the finals of the contest at WrestleMania to face off against the evil Spike. This is where things got pretty nuts and made me glad I took the brief time it took me to read this book. First we have a bizarro Wrestl [...]

Some kids (and some families) are crazy about WWE. Me, I barely know what the letters stand for even though I have had a student of mine explain about wrestling and why she liked it so much. At any rate, this book successfully tells the story of a "superfan" of WWE and the contest he entered to become that superfan. It throws in some good-old fashioned American patriotism too, as the father of the young boy is serving in the US army. Well-written and entertaining, a must-read for kids who enjoy [...]

Predictable, but decently entertaining for a former wrestling fan. I'm sure my current WWE fans would go bonkers for this book.-----------Ugh, the things I read for my students. Hoping this will be better than it looks and sounds to me, 'cause I can't say I'm looking forward to it--although I'm pretty sure I can find some readers for this in my classroom.

This book was great. The book was very descriptive and had a lot of good words. I know it is fiction and all but the things the kid did like ride in a limo with wrestler and do these competitions with kids that want to hurt him seems like something couldn't do with there pg- ara.

I felt the characters were a bit stereotypical/flat, but I think boys and WWE fans would really enjoy this book.
